Legoland® continues to tout an upcoming park announcement via social media. Although uncertain at this point, local insiders including the Orlando Business Journal strongly indicate that the big announcement may well have to do with Legoland Florida expansion plans. At this point, speculation tends to center around the development of a Pirate Shores themed area or a new World of CHIMA™ character addition.
Legoland Florida – Pirate Shores Rumors
Parkrumors.com spurred lots of early speculation in August of last year that the park news will eventually involve a “Pirate Shores” themed expansion of the park. This potential 1.6-acre tract would be designed and engineered similar to the Pirate Shores attraction of the same name in California. Other Pirate Shores highlights would potentially include:
Nothing is certain at this time, but the Legoland Florida expansion plans may be coming to fruition soon. The aforementioned “pirates” theme would seemingly solidify the park’s reputation with families especially younger males, and be a great addition to this popular park. The other rumor indicates that the World of CHIMA theme will be part of the Legoland expansion.
Legoland Florida – World of CHIMA™ Speculation
CHIMA is a mythical land of paradise ruled by 8 animal tribes created by Lego®. Animal tribes include chieftains of various species including wolves, lions, ravens, eagles, and crocodiles. Legoland California recently announced the addition of a 4D experience attraction utilizing the CHIMA theme and characters as well. The Legoland Florida Legends of CHIMA introduction would synergize with Lego’s release of video games of the same name in 2013 and 2014.
Although the Legends of CHIMA™ theme would predominate around one area of the park, we would also assume that water attractions and/or new rollercoaster would be part of the CHIMA expansion as well.
So whether it will be the Legends of CHIMA or the Pirate Shores theme, Legoland Florida will end the speculation soon. Our guess is that the Legends of CHIMA attraction will ultimately be selected based on the huge financial upside for Lego®.

Legoland Florida – World of Chima Expansion Update
This is an update to our original post. Legoland Florida has announced that the World of CHIMA theme attraction will comprise its new expansion slated for the summer of 2013. In addition, a water slide called the “Quest for Chi” and an outdoor arena (Speedorz) where kids will build prototypes of this Lego® line of products.
All in all, the Legoland Florida World of CHIMA expansion will add some buzz in the local entertainment media and give park guests an additional reason to visit the park. Our hats are off to the Legoland Florida team for cultivating creativity and imagination while rolling out this new attraction.
