Orlando Sea Life Aquarium Review
A few months ago, OVH 360 blogged about Coming Attractions for 2015. For our latest Orlando vacation rental blog updates, we’ll touch upon an exciting new development – SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando. This project is also known as the I-Drive 360 Complex. It has recently been announced that the much anticipated grand opening of the SEA LIFE Aquarium complex will be May 4th 2015. If your family is visiting Central Florida this spring or beyond, this is definitely something to put on your must-do list!
The I-Drive 360 Complex is being developed by Merlin Entertainment, the European firm that also created LEGOLAND. This project will showcase many new restaurants, shops and three main attractions. And, the Sea Life Aquarium Orlando is one of these brand new edutainment venues.
In the last few weeks, crews began filling up the giant aquatic tanks with thousands of gallons of water (there’s some great video footage on SEA LIFE’s Facebook page). At least 45,000lbs of sand will be placed inside of the tanks and 90,000lbs of salt will be used to create saltwater; all of this preparation to produce the perfect ecosystem for the various species of sea creatures that will be arriving soon. As one can imagine, SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando is sure to be a top notch vivarium!
Guests should expect to be transported to an underwater world where marine life from the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge all in one place! The SEA LIFE aquarium will have more than 30 various aquatic displays and be home to over 5,000 sea creatures including: jellyfish, sea horses, giant octopi, rays, penguins, gators, tropical fish, etc. Stroll through Sea Life’s state of the art 360-degree ocean tunnel where visitors will experience giant sea turtles and sharks swimming above and below you! Stay dry (and safe) all while experiencing face to face interactions with rays, sharks, fish and more with Sea Life’s bubble and floor -to -ceiling tanks.
Calling all future marine biologists! SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando was designed especially for children! The SEA LIFE Aquarium will feature interactive touch pools where kids will get hands -on experiences with live starfish, hermit crabs, sea anemones and urchins. Children will be encouraged to interact with staff for fun discussions about the underwater world as well as study fun facts as they explore the Dive Adventure Quiz Trail. Kids will learn how to make the oceans a better place and the difference they can make through SEA LIFE’s conservation program. There will also be sea animal feeds, ‘talking’ aquariums and a children’s play area. With a ticket upgrade, behind the scene experiences like a guided tour of the Ocean Habitat or meet and greet with a member of the dive or aquarist team will be available.
It is estimated that it will take visitors approximately 2-3 hours to tour the entire SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando attraction. The SEA LIFE admission fee will be pretty reasonable. An aquarium-only ticket sold at the gate will cost between $20-25 for children 3+ and adults. However, if you book online at least 3 weeks in advance of your visit, you can save $7 per ticket according to the SEA LIFE tickets portal! And for more cost savings, all Merlin attractions are offered in discounted bundles; tickets for all attractions are currently available for online purchase.
