March Festivals in Orlando
The 59th Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival
Friday 3/16 – Sunday 3/18
If you love strolling around outside taking in one art booth after the other, this is definitely the festival for you!
Winter Park is located only about 7 miles up I-4 just north of Orlando so it’s an easy drive there from the city. The festival itself will take place in Central Park and along Park Avenue. According to their website, the event started way back in 1960 as a community project to bring local artists and art lovers together. I’d say they’ve done a great job! Still going strong nearly 60 years later, the festival draws over 350,000 visitors annually, with over 1,000 artists applying for spaces this year.
Children’s Workshop
There’s also a Children’s Workshop Village for the kids to enjoy featuring easel painting and a variety of hands-on activities provided by local art centers and museums.
Be sure to check out the Leon Theodore Schools Exhibit where artwork by thousands of Orange County students is on display for your enjoyment. There’s also a complimentary bike valet service provided for cyclists by the Winter Park Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Board. Pet access is restricted. Orlando Caribbean Festival
Saturday 3/17 Noon-8:00 pm
If you love the Caribbean culture, especially its delicious food and vibrant music, you’ll want to be dialed in to this one. Marking its 7th anniversary, the event will take place at the Orlando Amphitheater in the Central Florida fairgrounds. This is one of the featured events of this year’s fair.
Just a few of the music headliners are Wyclef Jean, Alison Hines, Jenn Morel, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Konshens, Harmonik, and TVICE.
If you really want to get into the festivities, Caribbean-themed costume rentals are available on a first come, first serve basis. For more information, be sure to visit: www.OrlandoCaribbeanFestival.com.
