As we enter the Fall months and the temperatures begin to recede, we are reminded of why this time of year is great to visit Central Florida and rent a villa in Orlando. New and expanded local attractions also give prospective visitors additional new reasons to come to Orlando.

One of our original posts over 4 years ago dealt with our assessment of the best months to visit Orlando. The months of September (after Labor Day) and going in to October for holidays in Florida 2012 certainly meet that criteria. Park attendance begins to wane at this time which helps minimize waiting time and maximize time on your favorite rides and attractions.

New and Expanded Park Attractions

With expansions at Disneyworld, Legoland and SeaWorld either completed or in the works, there has never been more to enjoy in Orlando. We are also hearing some great things about the new waterparks in Orlando – Legoland and Blastaway Beach.

SeaWorld® debuted Turtle Trek and Discovery Cove unveiled Freshwater Oasis nature encounters to the delight of park enthusiasts. Both parks build on experiential entertainment which will continue to shape other new attractions in the future.

Walt Disney World® will also complete the first leg of the Fantasyland expansion later in the year, but not in time for our recommendations above. Nonetheless, it should be an opportune time to see all the new venues as well as those that have been popular in the past.

A recent article in the Wall Street Journal on the state of the national second homes market caught our eye. The article entitled – Vacation Homes Beckon – Market Conditions Improving in Some High End Locales painted a rather positive outlook for anyone potentially buying a second home. However, we are certain of only one 1 thing in this market which is outlined below.

We want to be very clear, we make no attempts to speculate or give advice concerning the value and price direction for real estate. We keep our keen focus on the status of the local vacation home rental market, and not buying a 2nd home in Orlando. The WSJ piece is interesting simply because so many predictions have been made about buying a rental home in the most recent economic downturn, and this is yet another one.

Having said that, the article does state that there are signs of a bottom in higher end markets mostly in California, Florida and Utah. The primary source of the article is Moody’s Analytics, an economic research and consulting firm, who clearly state that the signs of a bottom are forming. In other words, purchasing a second home involves potential risk.
