New Attractions in Orlando 2019
If everything goes as planned, this could very well be the biggest year ever for new attractions opening at Orlando’s theme parks!
We’re going to jump right in and do our best to present the “main attractions” in the order we feel they will probably open.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
This could be the first for theme park goers to enjoy as Disney’s Hollywood Studios is tagging its arrival for “early 2019.” Fans of the Cars movie series are sure to love this one. The collaborative effort from Disney and Pixar is set to take place in a theater setting that features a 200-foot wrap-around video screen that is rumored to be a “high octane racing simulator.” Lightning McQueen will be in charge of the show that includes Radiator Springs cohorts Cruz Ramirez and Tow Mater.
Next on our list is SeaWorld Orlando’s:
Sesame Street Land
This is one of the top new attractions in Orlando 2019. This attraction is undoubtedly a move by SeaWorld to expand the theme park beyond its dolphins, whales and other sea creatures, and is sure to attract even more kiddos and their parents. Elmo and Big Bird will be among the characters perusing their famous neighborhood that includes Abby Cadabby’s garden, Big Bird’s nest, the 123 stoop, as well as Mr. Hooper’s store. The attraction will also feature new rides, interactive games, play areas, and of course a Sesame Street parade. The projected opening for this new attraction in Orlando 2019 is in the spring.
Also set to open this Spring is LEGOLand Florida’s:
Lego Movie World
Billed as a “fully immersive” experience, guests will join Emmet, the star of the show, and will feel as they’re actually part of the movie. Lego Movie World reportedly will feature three new attractions including The Lego Movie Masters of Flight, a ride that will send riders soaring thru the sky aboard Emmet’s flying couch. Also sure to thrill are the Battle of Bricksburg, that is said will test your water spraying abilities, and Unikitty’s Disco Drop which takes guests up thru a rainbow to reach Cloud Cuckoo Land. There’s also a space-themed playground to let the kiddos run some energy out, as well as an interactive boat ride.
This next one we touted in our last 2019 new Orlando events post, but we surely can’t leave Mickey and Minnie off the list when it comes to blockbuster new attractions in Orlando 2019! Disney’s Hollywood Studios is still set to open its main stars’ Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway sometime in 2019. Disney will unveil a new “2 ½ D” technology that will thrust riders smack in the middle of the action. It is reported that 2 ½ D requires no special glasses, a definite improvement over 3 D, and produces visual effects that will “blow your mind.”
The final two on our list of upcoming new attractions in Orlando 2019 have also been included in previous posts but they are finally upon us!
Harry Potter Rollercoaster
Set to open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Universal has done a good job of keeping details of its new coaster under wraps but promises it will be “action packed.” The thrill ride will take off later this year at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter-Hogsmeade.
Star Wars Land

Star Wars Land Disney Orlando
Last but certainly not least, the grandaddy of all attractions is scheduled to open in late 2019!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is on track to open Star Wars Land, Disney’s “largest ever single-themed expansion.” Officially named Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, this massive new attraction promises a ride that allows guests to take the controls of the Millennium Falcon spaceship, and another experience that thrusts participants into an epic battle between the Resistance and the First Order. Star Wars fans the world over are awaiting in anticipation of this one!
