Avatar Land at Disney
As we blogged about several months ago, Disney Avatar Land in Animal Kingdom will become a reality in 2017.
In what is promised to be a transformational attraction, Disney Avatar Land renderings were released to the public. Stunning drawings and images of the fictional planet of Pandora as it will be depicted in the park were released. Over $500 million is to be spent opening the new Avatar Land attraction based on industry estimates.
Disney Avatar Land – Impact to Company Finances
Disney Avatar Land is also projected to be transformational for the financial bottom line for the overall company. The theme park is expected to generate an additional 15 million visitors for Animal Kingdom when it opens in 2017 according to a Disney business insider article.

This also comes at a time that Disney park attendance growth is projected to slow as we approach the Avatar Land opening date. Obviously the Disney Avatar plans over the longer term are to put the Lake Buena Vista park in the spotlight and will generate plenty of media attention. Groundbreaking for Avatar Land was held on January 14th. Several Disney dignitaries joined the press appearance. The opening is still slated for 2017.
